The main end customer interaction in a digital world is happening through portals and apps. We offer portal and app templates for different web browsers and mobile OS versions (iOS and Android) that our customers can use entirely or partially for a speedy ramp up.
Energy Community Engine
Our Energy Community Engine seamlessly integrates with the end customer portals and apps to link end customers together. Distributed power generation, controllable consuming devices like heat pumps, battery storages and electric vehicles can be optimized to best serve the power needs within an energy community. Whether energy communities are geographically connected (e.g. a village) or completely virtual (e.g. all supporters of a soccer club), end customers can connect with each other and share their energy effectively. Our Energy Community Engine also allows end customers to create their own communities and includes gamification possibilities to maximize engagement potential.
Local Asset Optimization Workbench
Our customers’ services define the way devices at end customers’ premises are utilized. An autarky service for instance maximizes the autarky rate of a building. Distributed power generation is used locally to minimize needed grid supply. Jointly with our customers, we define the algorithms and methodologies needed to manage devices in buildings in a way that set goals will be achieved.
Virtual Power Plant Manager
Distributed devices have built-in flexibility. Our energy system needs flexible loads, flexible power generation and storage capacity to remain balanced. Therefore, flexibility that is made accessible by digitally connecting devices is valuable. Whether the value is driven by grid constraints or by financial opportunities on the wholesale markets, our Virtual Power Plant Manager helps capturing it. Distributed assets are optimized against constraints or external price signals. Energy companies can therefore better manage their risks, their balancing energy and power procurement costs. This is essential for new offerings like energy flat rates that contain high risks to be managed carefully.
Machine Learning and Analytics
We embedded machine learning technology into our platform for forecasting and optimization of every individual device. Linked with external data sources for e.g. weather forecasts or market prices and historical device and usage profiles, our platform optimizes the usage of all connected devices to allow for a stable, secure and smart distributed energy market. Also, our algorithms include considerations for operational limitations, e.g. limited number of starts and stops of devices for a given timeframe, fixed usage timeframes (“my car needs to be charged by tomorrow morning at 7 a.m.”) or other constraints.
Real-time data processing is becoming a key factor for success. As a digital energy market will generate large amounts of data and will require decisions with low latency, it is essential to have best in class data processing capabilities.
In the future that data will not only be processed in the cloud but locally as well. Embedded analytics capabilities in our EIBP Connect software stack maximize the effectiveness and speed of data processing. Through analytics components like Informix (embedded database technology) or CPLEX (optimization engine) from our partner IBM, we can process data locally where it is generated. Edge analytics makes sure that we can cope with requirements like data privacy/sovereignty or use cases with low latency requirements. In addition, it helps to save cost on cloud infrastructure as a lot of data pre-processing can be done locally.
Many of our customers have built up a significant legacy system landscape. Traditional systems in the billing, trading or asset management space often limit the possibility to rapidly create new products. The future energy world however requires fast time-to-market and rapid changes of new services. It is therefore essential to get around those limitations. Our built in mediation features allow us to pre-process data for legacy systems. A legacy billing system for example receives pre-processed billing items based on more complex billing logic like time of use prices that is not easily implemented into existing systems. The core data calculation functionality is taken over by the EIBP Platform and the billing system is used as an invoice printing system.
Similar logic can be applied with existing trading systems that are not capable of optimizing large amounts of distributed devices for trading purposes. Here, our virtual power plant functionality takes over the optimization process as a portfolio management system for distributed devices and forwards optimized results to the existing trading system that positions trades at the power exchange. By this Service Mediation our customers save millions of Euros without replacing or retrofitting their legacy system landscape.
Our Service Tools are key elements to ensure effective operational processes. When starting with initial steps in your service offering, our applications in place do not require immediate integration with our client’s existing system landscape. Being in larger rollouts, our Service Tools are the foundation for providing all relevant process and data foundations for effective operations.

Our Activation Hub application allows you to setup and provision new customers and services. Customer data can be captured, services and devices can be configured and provisioned.
Our ICEHUB Toolbox automates the management of deployed devices. Remote firmware update management, monitoring of device or gateway issues are handled through this application
Platform Operations is a powerful Network Management System that gives support employees an overview of the entire services and devices under management. Issues can be realized immediately through dashboards and debugged by going deeper into detailed issue analyses. The service quality can be tracked through reporting functionalities.
